Jim carves the little man from a single piece of wood. He uses glass beads for the eyes, earrings, choker, belt and bustle. Jim also adds quillwork arm bands that feature leather dangles with tin cones and red feather fluffs. He also adds strips of quillwork to the bustle. On top of the figures head Jim has added a spray of feathers and ties a miniature feather fan to his wrist. Jim has also painted symbols on the face and back of the figure.
For the seat, Jim uses a mini log (very heavy) and decorated it to imitate a drum. This drum will not make a drumming sound even though it has rawhide stretched across the top and bottom with rawhide lacing., For the decoration of the seat, Jim has painted the log and added brass bells and glass bead dangles.
