June 2014 Newsletter: Happy Father's Day!
We would like to take a moment and pay tribute to all the father's out there who tirelessly provide for their families, raise their children and play with their grandkids. Every child needs a mother and father. So if you get a chance, thank that guy who took time for you not because he had to but because he wanted to.
"Fatherhood is pretending the present you love most is soap-on-a-rope."
~ Bill Cosby
"A father carries pictures where his money used to be."
June is a beautiful month here in the Black Hills and the Prairie, the last of winter has burned off and all of the trees are in full bloom with green leaves and the flowers smell so pretty. The Prairie is alive with new growth and all the new babies are enjoying the warmth that spring and summer offer.
For the Lakota, it is the beginning of preparation for Hanbleycha (Vision Questing) and Sun Dancing. The Wakinyan (Thunder Beings) rumble across the Prairie announcing their return and bring the gift of life giving water for our earth. We still have sage and sweet grass in stock for those who cannot gather their own and more botanicals that may be needed.
We have added new items to our New Creations category and we have updated our Pow Wow Calendar, thank you to all the folks who have provided information for this, if you do not see your listing or if you have updated information, please send it to email@example.com and we will get it added.
Our Historical Monthly Events category features this months Battle of the Rosebud, Battle of the Little Bighorn and Religious Freedom Restoration Act. All three of these historical events had an impact on the lives of Native Americans.
We thank you for taking the time to catch up with us and we wish you a great rest of June.
